Nu-Edge was selected as the deep utility servicing contractor for the Meltwater Stage 1 subdivision located in the City of Edmonton. Meltwater is a large-scale land development which includes the construction of 154 single family residential lots (Phase 1), commercial sites, multifamily sites and stormwater management facilities. The pipe sizes ranged from small diameter 100mm service pipes up to large diameter 1500mm storm trunk sewers ranging from 3 to 7m deep. Precast concrete structures, vaults and control structures ranging from 600mm to 3000mm diameter have also been installed.
The initial stage of construction included installing a 6m deep sanitary sewer along the existing 50th Street arterial roadway complete with two trenchless crossings. Traffic accommodation, public and worker safety was paramount during construction.
The City of Edmonton’s Erosion and Sediment Control program, through Eigenspace IBI Group, was implemented and effectively followed throughout construction.
